I created this blog to showcase how the content of English Language Arts can be revolutionized into a new experience through the innovations of digital technology. My desire is that these weekly posts will be a platform for teachers to share and discuss how different strategies using technology can benefit the students of our classrooms today.
I am a graduate of Kennesaw State University where I received a Bachelors of Science in Communication and a minor in Film Studies. Relevant technology courses included: Concepts in New Media, Uses and Effects of Mass Media, and Digital Media Production. I am currently a graduate student at Kennesaw State University, seeking a Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary English degree. I will be student teaching over this next school year after four years of working as a middle and high school substitute teacher. Before education-related jobs, I spent several years in the restaurant industry as a server and trainer. Prior to my days of rolls and soup, I was employed with iHeart Media where I created audience-targeted web content through HTML. This content included captions, polls, videos, pictures, podcasts, and more. Recently, in a position as a supply teacher at Dickerson Middle School, I attended Microsoft Innovative Educator seminar sessions on implementing platforms such as Sway and Skype into the classroom.
